Monthly Makers are where each month I share with you some empowering mothers with a passion to build their business from ground up + do something they love everyday all while raising children.
With a passion in the handmade industry it only seems fair to share with you all the mind blowing Mummas out there building their empire out of handmade treasures with so much love + personality
so to celebrate this community of Mummas Empire I share with you a little of Chloe Olsen from Ink jewel designs + her beautiful work space.
What is your business all about in 3 words?
Colourful. Unique. Fun.
Tell us about your family, where you live and how many are in your house?
I live in the nations capital Canberra with my amazing husband of 14yrs, our 3 kiddies and our furbaby Jax.
How does your day usually look?
Every morning starts off with the usual get up/get ready routine. With 3 kids aged from 2-13 yrs, it’s a little bit chaotic most days. Once the 2 older kids are off to school, it just leaves Audrey and I home for the day. We try and occupy most of our time with activities and outside play, but there are definitely occasions where I need to multi task. Audrey loves stacking acrylic pieces and drawing one of a kind works of art on my postage boxes. Most of my work is completed at night when the kids are asleep. My husband Daniel is such an amazing source of support and we usually tackle everything with a bag of malteasers in hand.
Your scrolling through Instagram who are you stalking?
I am absolutely in love with bright, fun, colorful accounts. I adore Amy from Confetti Rebels vibe and I own so many of her amazing tees! Katie from Katiethomasart is also a fave. She has the most gorgeous artwork in all the colors I love.
The work space in your home plays an important role in your business, how do you create a space where you feel most creative?
I am constantly finding little bits and pieces from other handmade stores or op shops that I love and inspire me. I fill my work space with colour, candles, plants and even crystals. I need to surround myself with things that make me happy and give me positive vibes to help the creativity flow.
What are you reading? Watching? Listening to?
Currently reading The Barefoot Investor. Watching Orange is the New Black. Listening to Frank Ocean and Dolly Parton (such a random combo).
And of course, what’s your favourite aspect of your business + any encouraging words for other Mummas out there wanting to begin building their empire?
I really enjoy the whole creative release that my business allows me to have. I absolutely love every aspect of my “job” and I am so lucky to be able to do this everyday. To all the Mummas starting out, I know it can be daunting at times. My advice is to really just create what you love! If you love what you do, it reflects through your work and I honestly believe your customers will be able to see that and love it just as much.
